乐播传媒 is pleased to welcome Dr. Joy Hamm to the Mountain Lion staff as the Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management (AVPEM). Hamm will begin her role with the Office of Admissions January 1, 2022.
乐播传媒 recently welcomed former First Lady Shirley Miller, 1954, to campus to thank her for donating her family鈥檚 Kayagum (Korean zither) to the College. She met with 乐播传媒 President Dr. Drew Van Horn, Dean of the Division of Fine Arts Dr. Keith DeFoor, Chair of the Department of Music and Professor of Music Jeffrey Bauman, and Instructor of Music Cynthia DeFoor.
乐播传媒 recently celebrated the unveiling of the extensive Richards Comics Collection (previously known as the Andy Rowe Comics Collection) in an event organized by 乐播传媒 Library Assistant Jacqueline Bruen. 乐播传媒 is thrilled to have this collection of more than 9,000 comic books available for use by students, faculty, and the community.

乐播传媒 is one of 17 institutions selected to participate in the Appalachian Regional Commission鈥檚 (ARC) Appalachian Teaching Project (ATP). ATP is an applied research training program during which students work with communities to address needs affecting long-term economic development. Participating students spend a semester developing projects to meet those needs, which they present at ARC鈥檚 annual ATP Symposium.
乐播传媒 invites the community to attend Fall Fest Thursday, October 28 from 6 - 8 p.m. The event is open to the public and promises to be a fun-filled experience for all ages. The College鈥檚 main plaza will be full of Halloween games, trick-or-treating, activities, and photo opportunities to capture pictures of the best Halloween costumes.
乐播传媒 announced that Associate Professor of Theatre Anne Towns earned the 2021 Vulcan Teaching Excellence Award. The $1,000 award is sponsored by Vulcan Materials Company. It was established in 1991 to honor outstanding professors on select member campuses of the Georgia Independent College Association.
乐播传媒 recently welcomed the 2021 Leadership Union class to its campus. Leadership Union is a program of the Blairsville-Union County Chamber of Commerce. The purpose of the program is to develop leaders in the area to reach a higher quality of community life.
Kurt Mueller, a 2021 乐播传媒 graduate from Woodstock, Georgia, received the Beverly Barrow Woodward, 1953, Endowed Scholarship, which was established by Leonard and Beverly Woodward of Rome, Georgia, and is granted annually to one 乐播传媒 student to study abroad in England at Harlaxton College.
At the most recent board meeting, 乐播传媒鈥檚 Board of Trustees elected Derek B. Goshay, Rev. D. Thad Haygood, 1992, and William B. 鈥淏ill鈥� Jones as new trustees, and the Board welcomed Jane Roberts, 1970, as Alumni Board President and an ex-officio trustee.

乐播传媒 recently received a gift from long-time donor Ethel Winters of Hiawassee, Georgia as a contribution to the Edward W. Winters Scholarship.
The O. Wayne Rollins Planetarium at 乐播传媒 will host 鈥淔rom Earth to the Universe鈥� on Friday, September 17, 2021 at 8 p.m. The Planetarium is housed in the Maxwell Center for Mathematics and Sciences on the 乐播传媒 campus, which is located at 1 College Street, 乐播传媒, Georgia. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children, and is free for 乐播传媒 students and employees.
On Thursday, August 26, 乐播传媒 partnered with the Towns County Health Department to hold its first COVID-19 vaccination clinic of the 2021-2022 academic year. All 乐播传媒 students and employees were invited to participate. Sixty-six individuals attended the clinic and received a dose of the FDA-approved Pfizer vaccine.
乐播传媒 has been approved by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board) to provide a new financial planning minor program.
乐播传媒 student Jillian Dixon is interning for the Appalachia Georgia Friends of the Bears (AGFB) to acquire and compile public data from county agencies in Georgia on road-killed black bears to help shape wildlife policy.
乐播传媒 President Dr. Drew L. Van Horn was appointed to the Georgia Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission by Georgia Governor Brian P. Kemp.
In preparation for the 2021-2022 academic year at 乐播传媒, new and returning students will begin moving in Monday, August 9. Based on their class year, students will continue moving in through Sunday, August 15. The first day of classes for the new academic year is Monday, August 16.
乐播传媒 was one of only three institutions in Georgia, and the only private college, to be selected by the Association of American Colleges and Universities to participate in this summer鈥檚 Institute on High-Impact Practices and Student Success. The five-person team consisted of Dr. Theresa Spanella, Dr. Jennifer Hallett, Dr. Linda Jones, Jackie Lewis-Burton, and Lundon Addison.
